Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation for EvaporatorREMOVAL
1. Evacuate and recover the A/C system refrigerant. Refer to "HFC-134a (R-134a) Service Procedure".
2. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
3. Remove the air cleaner to electronic throttle control actuator tube.
NOTE: The tube is located between the air cleaner assembly and the intake manifold and is removed to access the expansion valve.
4. Disconnect the A/C pipe from the expansion valve.
CAUTION: Cap or wrap the joint of the pipe with suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of air.
5. Remove the expansion valve.
6. Remove the center console side finisher RH. Refer to "INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY".
7. Remove the glove box assembly.
8. Remove the ECM.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Remove the wire harness from the ECM mounting bracket.
- Remove the two ECM mounting bracket nuts and disconnect the ground wire.
9. Remove the blower unit.
10. Remove the heater core cover.
11. Remove the evaporator cover.
12. Remove the evaporator.
- Remove the intake sensor.
CAUTION: Mark the mounting position of the intake sensor for installation.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
Expansion valve bolts : 2.9 - 5.0 N-m (0.29 - 0.51 kg-m, 26 - 44 in-lb)
CAUTION:
- Replace the O-rings with new ones, then apply compressor oil to them when installing them.
- After charging refrigerant, check for leaks.
