2007-2009 ALTIMA; WHINE NOISE FROM CVT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS
APPLIED VEHICLES:
2007-2009 Altima Sedan (L32) with 4-cyl engine only
2008-2009 Altima Coupe (CL32) with 4-cyl engine only
APPLIED TRANSMISSION: CVT only
NOTE:

This bulletin has been amended. ACTION, PARTS INFORMATION, essential tools, and the SERVICE PROCEDURE have been amended. Please discard all previous copies.
IF YOU CONFIRM:
A whine or grind type noise heard during acceleration and / or constant highway speeds.
^ The level of noise may increase as vehicle speed increases.
AND
There are no other drivability issues or stored DTCs related to the CVT.
ACTION:
Refer to the REPAIR FLOW CHART above for repair procedure.
^ Use CVT Service Tool Kit J-50255, Seal Installers J-50393 and J-50394, Slide Hammer Bolt J-50255-UPD, Slide Hammer J-25721-A, and Driver Handle J-8092. J-50255, J-50255-UPD, J-50393, and J-50394 are considered "Essential" and have been sent to each dealer on Dec 1, 2010, January 14, 2011, and March 15, 2011, respectively. Your Non-Vehicle account was charged $397.95, $17.03, and $55.67 (plus applicable taxes and freight). Tool J-25721-A and J-8092, both considered "Essential" for other specific repairs, were previously sent to each dealer.

Parts Kit #1 (see PARTS INFORMATION) must be available at the time the reduction gear bearing shim selection procedure is to be performed.
