Reference: NTB11-057

Date: June 23, 2011

VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN
2009 cube(R) VEHICLE NO START DUE TO ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK (ESCL)

CAMPAIGN ID#: P1225

APPLIED VEHICLES: 2009 cube(R) (Z12) equipped with Intelligent Key

Check Service COMM to confirm campaign eligibility.

INTRODUCTION

Certain 2009 cube(R) vehicles are equipped with an Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) that locks the steering wheel when the vehicle is parked and turned off to help prevent theft. On some of these 2009 cube(R) vehicles, due to a manufacturing irregularity that has since been corrected, the ESCL may malfunction after the steering column is locked and could prevent the engine from starting. The issue does not affect steering or drivability when the engine is running. To prevent this potential condition, Nissan is conducting this voluntary service campaign to replace the ESCL with a new one at no charge for parts or labor.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification number P1225 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

Dealers are to repair vehicles falling within range of this campaign that enter the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties, vehicles presented by transient (tourists) owners, and vehicles in a dealer's inventory.
