Body - Sunroof Creaking Popping Noises

2009 MAXIMA; CREAKING / POPPING NOISE FROM DUAL PANEL SUNROOF
APPLIED VEHICLE: 2009 Maxima (A35) with Dual Panel Sunroof only
IF YOU CONFIRM:
A creaking or popping noise is coming from the Dual Panel Sunroof area.
^ Occurs most when turning, going up driveways at an angle, or when driving on uneven road surfaces.
ACTION:
1. Torque the eighteen (18) sunroof frame assembly Torx screws to 4.0-5.0 Nm (0.41 - 0.51 kg-m, 35 44 in-lb).
2. Torque the Center Bracket's four (4) 8 mm nuts to 5.8 8.5 Nm (0.59 0.87 kg-m, 51 - 75 in-lb).
^ The headlining will need to be dropped to access these screws and nuts (it does not need to be removed from the interior).
^ Refer to the 2009 Maxima Electronic Service Manual (ESM), if needed: All Information, BODY EXTERIOR, WITH DUAL PANEL SUNROOF, SUNROOF UNIT ASSEMBLY, Removal and Installation. Click on the Removal and Installation link, and then go to Step 1 for headlining removal.
^ Refer to Figure 1 shown above for fastener location.
WARNING:
Disconnect both battery cables, negative cable first, then wait at least three (3) minutes before headlining removal. See Page 2 for radio preset recording table.
CAUTION:
> Be sure not to disturb the side curtain air bag or move it out of its proper position.
> Be careful not to crease the headlining when pulling it down to access the Torx screws and nuts.
NOTE:
> This bulletin does not apply on models with single panel sunroof for this incident, if it should occur.
> Do not replace the dual panel sunroof for this incident, if it should occur.
CLAIMS INFORMATION
Write down all radio station presets before disconnecting the battery.
NOTE:
Make sure to reset / initialize all applied systems i.e., radio, power windows, sunroof, etc., after repairs are completed.
^ For resetting / initialization procedures, refer to the appropriate section of the Electronic Service Manual as needed.
