M/T - Clutch Pedal Spring Replacement

APPLIED VEHICLES: 2007-2011 Sentra SE-R (B16U)

APPLIED ENGINE: QR25DE ONLY

IF YOU CONFIRM:

The clutch pedal spring needs to be replaced for any reason (such as "noise").

ACTION:

Replace the spring and bushings with the ones listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

NOTE:
DO NOT replace the entire clutch pedal assembly if only replacing the spring is necessary.

IMPORTANT:
The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing the repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the clutch pedal assembly.

^ Reference Section CL, CLUTCH PEDAL Removal and Installation in the appropriate Electronic Service Manual (ESM) if needed.

2. Remove the clutch pedal spring and bushings as needed.





3. Put the new bushings on the new spring and assemble onto the clutch pedal bracket guide hole as shown in Figure 1.





NOTE:
The bushings must be oriented into the clutch pedal bracket as shown in Figure 2.





4. Wrap a screwdriver shaft blade with masking or similar tape.

NOTE:
The tape will help to avoid damaging the spring surface during installation.





5. Place the clutch pedal arm in the full down position as shown in Figure 4.





6a. Place the screwdriver between the spring and pedal arm as shown in Figure 5.





6b. Slide the spring into the bracket hole as shown in Figure 6.

7. Confirm spring installation and pedal operation, then add heavy viscosity (thick bodied) general purpose lithium grease between the coils of the return spring.

8. Reassemble vehicle in reverse order of disassembly.
