LEAF; PRODUCT SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin has been amended. The Applied Vehicles section has been revised, and references to reporting LEAF incidents to Nissan TECH LINE have been removed. No other changes have been made. Please discard all previous copies.

APPLIED VEHICLE: 2011-2012 LEAF (ZEO)

SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin contains product service information and special handling procedures for the 2011 and 2012 LEAF.

WARNING:
These vehicles contain high voltage Systems. In order to safely service the vehicle:

1. All technicians should complete Web-Based Training (e-Learning).

^ Introduction to EV Safety and Overview (EVTN9901A-OLT)

^ Introduction to EV Technologies (EVTN9902A-OLT)

2. In addition to the courses above, EV Specialists are required to complete the Nissan LEAF EV Technologies (EVTN9903A) and the accompanying web-based post-test (EVTN9903A-PT).

3. Read and follow "CAUTIONS AS TO HIGH VOLTAGE" procedures in the Service Manual (GI Section).

^ Sending Data Recorded with CONSULT-III Plus to TECH LINE

CHARGING/TESTING A LEAF 12-VOLT BATTERY





WARNING:
Do not attempt to charge and/or jump-start the vehicle when the Li-ion battery is charging the 12-volt battery (the # 3 indicator light will flash while this is occurring). See Figure 1.

When charging/testing a LEAF 12-volt battery:

^ Follow the GR-8 user guide.

^ Select LEAF from the MODEL list.





^ If LEAF is not available in the MODEL list, go back and select JIS instead of MODEL. Use the JIS number located on top of the 12-volt battery.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING WHEN USING CONSULT-III PLUS

CAUTION:
The LEAF diagnostic system is designed to use only CONSULT-III plus.

^ DTCs with the accompanying FF Data information are required to investigate LEAF system components.

^ Use the following steps to store and display DTCs and FF Data.

^ Data stored can also be sent to TECH LINE.





1. From the Diagnosis (All Systems) screen, select Save.





2. Wait for the data to save.

3. When the Save As window displays, write the name of the saved data file on the Repair Order.





4. Select Save.

5. Confirm the DTCs and FF Data were saved.

a) Close CONSULT-III plus.

b) In the lower left corner of the screen, select Start.

c) Select My Computer.

d) Select Local Disk (C:).

e) Select CONSULT-III_plus.

f) Select UserData.

g) Select DataControl.

h) Select AllDTCReading.

I) Confirm the saved data file is in the folder.

NOTE:
The name of the saved data file was written on the Repair Order in step 3.

SENDING DATA RECORDED WITH CONSULT-III PLUS TO TECH LINE

1. Perform the steps in the Diagnostic Troubleshooting When Using CONSULT-III Plus section of this bulletin to save and store the data.





2. Open ASIST and select ASIST Support on the main page.

3. Select ASIST Synchronizer from the list displayed.





4. Select View Settings/Details.





5. Select Send to TECH LINE.





6. Select the applicable Data File Type.





7. Select the applicable saved data file in the Captured Data Files list.

^ If needed, move the slider right to display more of the file name.

NOTE:
The saved data file was created during the Diagnostic Troubleshooting When Using CONSULT-III Plus procedure. The name of the saved data file was written on the Repair Order in step 3 of the procedure.





8. Select Add Data to move the saved data file to the To TECH LINE field.

NOTE:
To remove a file from the To TECH LINE field, select the file and then select Remove Data.

9. Perform steps 6-8 for all saved data files to be sent to TECH LINE.

10. In the Comments field, enter the name of the TECH LINE specialist.





11. When finished, click on (ONE CLICK ONLY - do not double-click) Send to TECH LINE.

NOTE:
A double-click will send the data twice.

12. Select OK on the completion pop-up window.

NOTE:
An automated email response will be sent to you acknowledging receipt of each file sent.
