Service Procedure
SERVICE PROCEDURE:Altima VQ35
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the A/C compressor to complete this procedure.
1. Remove refrigerant charge from the A/C system using recovery machine, following the instructions on your machine.
2. Note the quantity of oil removed from the system by recovery machine.
3. Set vehicle on a lift and raise so that right front wheel can be removed, then remove wheel.
4. Remove Fender Protector Side Cover.
5. Loosen A/C drive belt and remove Idler Pulley to gain access to A/C Drain Plug.
6. Remove contaminants from Drain Plug (Figure 3) and surrounding surfaces. (Use Isopropanol 50% or Refrigerant Dye Cleaner J-43872 as recommended in the Electronic Service Manual)
Note:
Use new or clean gloves (rubber or leather only) when removing Drain Plug from compressor.
7. Mark Drain Plug with red dot (ink or paint pen), and then remove old Plug and 0-ring.
> Keep 0-ring seat surface clean so that contamination does not enter compressor.
8. Add same amount of (new) oil as removed by recovery machine.
9. Install new pre-assembled Drain Plug and lubricated 0-ring (service kit) and then torque plug to 9.8+2 Nm. Confirm new Plug has black dot marking.
10. Clean Drain Plug and surrounding surfaces to remove any remaining oil (Use Isopropanol 50% or Refrigerant Dye Cleaner J-43872). Confirm that black dot mark has not washed away.
11. Reassemble vehicle in reverse order.
12. Evacuate the A/C-system for a minimum of 25 minutes.
13. Recharge system with original refrigerant charge indicated on A/C-system label.
^ Refer to ESM for procedure to recharge A/C system.
14. Run engine and A/C-system with full blower for 5 minutes to make sure system is working properly (refer to performance chart in service manual).
15. Recheck the Drain Plug area for leaks after functional check.
Altima QR25
NOTE:

3. Remove Front Air Duct.
4. Remove contaminants from Drain Plug (Figure 4) and surrounding surfaces. (Use Isopropanol 50% or Refrigerant Dye Cleaner J-43872 as recommended in the Electronic Service Manual)
Note:
Use new or clean gloves (rubber or leather only) when removing Drain Plug from compressor.
5. Mark Drain Plug with red dot (ink or paint pen), and then remove old Plug and 0-ring.
> Keep 0-ring seat surface clean so that contamination does not enter compressor.
6. Add same amount of (new) oil as removed by recovery machine.
7. Install new pre-assembled Drain Plug and lubricated 0-ring (service kit) and then torque plug to 9.8+2 Nm. Confirm new Plug has black dot marking.
8. Clean Drain Plug and surrounding surfaces to remove any remaining oil (Use Isopropanol 50% or Refrigerant Dye Cleaner J-43872). Confirm that black dot mark has not washed away.
9. Reinstall Front Air Duct
10. Evacuate the A/C-system for a minimum of 25 minutes.
11. Recharge system with original refrigerant charge indicated on A/C-system label.
^ Refer to ESM for procedure to recharge A/C system.
12. Run engine and A/C-system with full blower for 5 minutes to make sure system is working properly (refer to performance chart in service manual).
13. Recheck the Drain Plug area for leaks after functional check.
Sentra QR25
NOTE:

1. Remove refrigerant charge from the A/C system using recovery machine, following the instructions on your machine.
2. Note the quantity of oil removed from the system by recovery machine.
3. Set vehicle on a lift and raise so that right front wheel can be removed, then remove wheel.
4. Remove Fender Protector Side Cover.
5. Remove Engine Undercover.
6. Remove the fasteners for the front half of the Fender protector and allow it to hang down.
7. Remove contaminants from Drain Plug (Figure 5) and surrounding surfaces. (Use Isopropanol I 50% or Refrigerant Dye Cleaner J-43872 as recommended in the Electronic Service Manual)
Note:
Use new or clean gloves (rubber or leather only) when removing Drain Plug from compressor.
8. Mark Drain Plug with red dot (ink or paint pen), and then remove old Plug and 0-ring.
> Keep 0-ring seat surface clean so that contamination does not enter compressor.
9. Add same amount of (new) oil as removed by recovery machine.
10. Install new pre-assembled Drain Plug and lubricated 0-ring (service kit) and then torque plug to 9.8+2 Nm. Confirm new Plug has black dot marking.

14. Recharge system with original refrigerant charge indicated on A/C-system label.

16. Recheck the Drain Plug area for leaks after functional check.
Sentra MR20
1. Remove refrigerant charge from the A/C system using recovery machine, following the instructions on your machine.
2. Note the quantity of oil removed from the system by recovery machine.
3. Set vehicle on a lift and raise so that covers can be removed.
4. Remove Fender Protector Side Cover.
5. Remove Engine Undercover.
6. Disconnect both High Side and Low Side refrigerant lines from Compressor.
7. Loosen Compressor drive belt and then remove belt.
8. Disconnect electrical connector and remove Compressor.
9. Remove contaminants from Drain Plug (Figure 6) and surrounding surfaces. (Use Isopropanol 50% or Refrigerant Dye Cleaner J-43872 as recommended in the Electronic Service Manual)
Note:
Use new or clean gloves (rubber or leather only) when removing Drain Plug from compressor.
10. Mark Drain Plug with red dot (ink or paint pen), and then remove old Plug and 0-ring.
> Keep 0-ring seat surface clean so that contamination does not enter compressor.
11. Add same amount of (new) oil as removed by recovery machine.
12. Install new pre-assembled Drain Plug and lubricated 0-ring (service kit) and then torque plug to 9.8+2 Nm. Confirm new Plug has black dot marking.
13. Clean Drain Plug and surrounding surfaces to remove any remaining oil (Use Isopropanol 50% or Refrigerant Dye Cleaner J-43872). Confirm that black dot mark has not washed away.
14. Replace the Compressor High Side and Low Side line 0-rings and reassemble vehicle in reverse order.
15. Evacuate the A/C-system for a minimum of 25 minutes.
16. Recharge system with original refrigerant charge indicated on A/C-system label. Refer to ESM for procedure to recharge A/C system.
17. Run engine and A/C-system with full blower for 5 minutes to make sure system is working properly (refer to performance chart in service manual).
18. Recheck the Drain Plug area for leaks after functional check.
