VIN E:
VIN 3:
6. T.V. cable at throttle body and at transaxle.
7. If equipped with cruise control:
^ Cable at throttle body.
^ Vacuum hoses at servo.
^ Servo assembly.
8. Shift control linkage:
^ Mounting bracket at transaxle.
^ Lever at manual shaft.
9. Wiring connectors at:
^ Park/Neutral/Backup lamp switch.
^ Transaxle converter clutch.
^ Vehicle speed sensor.
IMPORTANT
^ When servicing requires that the "T"-Latch type wiring connector be disconnected from the switch, care must be taken to ensure proper reassembly of both the connector and the "T"-Latch. Failure to do so may result in intermittent loss of switch functions.
10. Vacuum modulator hose at modulator.
11. Three top transaxle-to-engine bolts.
12. Install engine support.
IMPORTANT
^ It is necessary to "load" the engine support by tightening the wing-nuts several turns to relieve tension on the frame and mounts.
13. Turn steering wheel to the full left position.
14. Raise car.
15. Both front tire and wheel assemblies.
16. Right front ball joint nut.
17. Separate control arm from steering knuckle.
18. Carefully remove right drive axle from case.
IMPORTANT
^ Carefully guide shaft past lip seal. Do not allow shaft splines to contact any portion of lip seal surface, otherwise damage to the seal will occur.
19. Left drive axle.
IMPORTANT
^ Use suitable pry bar being careful not to damage pan.
NOTICE: Some cars may use a silicone (gray) boot on the inboard axle joint. Use J-33162 on these boots, all other boots are made from a thermo-plastic material (black) and do not require use of a boot seal protector.
20. Wiring connector at aspirator.
21. Left front transaxle mount.
^ Three bolts at transaxle.
^ Three nuts at frame member.
22. Right front transaxle mount-to-frame nuts.
23. Left rear transaxle mount-to-transaxle bolts.
24. Right rear transaxle mount:
^ Three nuts to frame member.
^ Two bolts to transaxle case.
25. Engine support bracket-to-transaxle case bolts.
26. Stabilizer link to control arm bolt.
27. Flywheel cover bolts and flywheel cover.
28. Flywheel-to-cover bolts.
29. Bolts attaching rear frame member to front frame dog leg.
IMPORTANT

30. Front left frame to body attaching bolt.
31. Front frame dog leg to right frame member bolts.
32. Install jack under transaxle.
33. Frame assembly by swinging aside and supporting with suitable stand.
34. Cooler pipes at transaxle.
35. Remaining lower transaxle-to-engine bolts.
IMPORTANT
^ One (1) bolt is installed in the opposite direction.
36. Lower transaxle assembly.
IMPORTANT
^ Use care to avoid damaging right hand output shaft, shaft seal, hoses, lines and wiring.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Transaxle assembly into car.
IMPORTANT
^ Use care to avoid damaging right hand output shaft, shaft seal, hoses, lines and wiring.
