Troubleshooting Hints
1. Check the A/C Fuse by operating the Trunk Release.2. Compressor Operation; Turn Ignition Switch to RUN but do not start the engine. Put Mode Selector Switch to OFF, then to MAX. A click can be heard when clutch engages. Move Mode Selector Switch between OFF and MAX several times to verify that clutch engages in the MAX position. Clutch plate movement can be seen on the front of the Compressor Pulley.
^ If clutch does not engage, proceed to step 4.
3. Start the engine and put the Mode Selector Switch in MAX to engage clutch.
^ Check that air from cooling fan moves freely through condenser.
^ Feel the suction (cold) and output (warm) pipes of the compressor. If there is not a wide temperature difference after the compressor has run for several seconds, see refrigerant and compressor diagnostics.
4. Turn off the Ignition Switch.
^ Check refrigerant pressure at the low side service fitting.
^ If pressure is less than 172 kPa (25 psi), refer to refrigerant diagnostics.
^ If refrigerant pressure is higher than 172 kPa (25 psi), isolate trouble conditions using procedures under Diagnostic Tests. Testing and Inspection
