Heater Control - Typical:

Heater Module:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The G carline heater-ventilation system provides heater, defroster, and ventilation operation. The ventilation system provides ambient air to the passenger compartment by two methods (power upper, ram lower). The right and left vents are controlled by cables, which open or close the vent valves. In the open position, air only flows through the heater module inlet duct and vent ducts by means of car motion (ram air).

NOTE When removing or installing any electrical unit(s) disconnect negative battery cable to prevent electrical circuit or component damage.

Ventilation Controls:

VENTILATION
Power upper ventilation is provided by control selector lever. In the vent mode, outside air is driven by the blower around the temperature valve and through the power vent valve opening into the upper, center vent duct. If some heated air is desired, the temperature lever on the control can be adjusted to open the temperature valve. This diverts some inlet air through the heater core and into the heater distribution duct.

HEAT AND DEFROST
In the heat and defrost modes, outside air is drawn in by the blower, pushed past the temperature valve and, depending upon its position, is routed all or partially through the heater core. The air continues past the power vent valve into the distributor case and to either the defroster or heater outlet duct, depending on the position of the mode valve.
