With Electronic Climate Control

1. Check Fuse 7 by operating the Defogger (if so equipped) or by making a visual check. Check Fuse 14 by checking the Glove Box Light (if so equipped).

2. Compressor Operation: Turn Ignition Switch to RUN and start engine. Press OFF Mode button then press MAX.

^ A click will be heard when clutch engages.
^ Alternately press OFF and MAX several times to verify that clutch engages in MAX position. Clutch plate movement can be seen on the front of the Compressor Pulley.
^ If clutch does not engage, proceed to step 4.

3. Press Mode button MAX to engage clutch.

^ Check that engine cooling fan runs when compressor is engaged.
^ Check that air moves freely through compressor.
^ Feel the suction pipes of the compressor. If the pipe does not feel cold after the compressor has run for several seconds, proceed to step 4.

4. Turn off Ignition Switch.

^ Check refrigerant pressure.
^ If pressure is low, refer to Testing and Inspection/Procedures. Testing and Inspection
^ If refrigerant pressure is normal, isolate trouble conditions using procedures in Diagnostic Tests. With Electronic Climate Control
