A/C Module Replace
TORONADO
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Discharge A/C system, then drain cooling system into suitable container.
3. Remove front of cowl shield retaining screws.
4. Disconnect bulkhead electrical connector, then engine electrical connectors and position aside.
5. Remove Electronic Spark Control (ESC) module bracket nuts and screws, then disconnect ESC wiring connector and remove ESC module and bracket assembly.
6. Remove power steering pump bracket attaching bolts, then the bracket.
7. Remove coil bracket attaching nuts, then disconnect plug wires and electrical connectors from coils.
8. Remove plug wire guides and wiring harness conduit from bracket, then the coil and bracket assembly and position aside.
9. Remove wiring harness conduits, allowing wiring to fall towards bottom of engine.
10. Remove blower motor attaching screws, then disconnect electrical connector and motor cooling tube. Remove blower motor.
11. Remove A/C line bracket bolt and bracket.
12. Remove A/C line assembly bolt, then disconnect A/C assembly from evaporator.
13. Remove power module attaching screws, then disconnect electrical connectors. Remove power module.
14. Remove heater hoses from heater core and position aside.
15. Remove two heat shield screws, then bend heat shield as necessary to allow for A/C module plastic cover removal.
16. Remove A/C module plastic cover attaching screws, then the cover.
17. Remove A/C module steel cover screws.
18. Remove righthand side sound insulator attaching screws and courtesy light, then the sound insulator.
19. Remove climate control system floor outlet attaching screws, then the outlet.
20. Pull back carpeting from front right side, then remove A/C module attaching bolts and nuts.
21. Remove A/C module steel cover, then the A/C module.
22. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following.
a. Before installing A/C module, apply suitable sealing strip to module sealing flange.
b. After installation is complete, evacuate and recharge A/C system.
