Wiper Motor: Testing and Inspection

PERMANENT MAGNET DEPRESSED MOTOR
Check motor operation as follows before removing wiper assembly from car:

1. Disconnect wiring harness from wiper assembly.
2. Apply +12 volts to wiper connector pins as shown in Figure 1. If motor operates in LO, HI, PARK and PULSE, do wiper switch checks shown on Figures 2 and 3.


(Figure 4) Wiper Motor Inoperative:




3. If the wiper motor is inoperative, refer to Figure 4.


(Figure 5) Intermittent Wiper Operation:




4. If the wiper motor operation is intermittent in "PULSE", "LO" or "HI" modes, refer to Figure 5.


(Figure 5) Wiper Will Not Park:




5. If the wipers will not park, refer to Figure 6.


(Figure 7) Faulty Delay Mode:




6. If there is no delay, or continuous in delay (motor operates in "LO" and "HI" modes), refer to Figure 7.


(Figure 8) No Low Speed Mode:




7. If there is no "LO" speed mode, refer to Figure 8.


(Figure 9) No "HI" Mode:




8. If there is no "HI" speed mode or blades cycle in and out of park with switch in "HI", refer to Figure 9.
