A Symptom Chart

NOTE: If any diagnostic codes or messages are displayed or if diagnostics cannot be entered, see Powertrain Management.

^ Prior to exchanging the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), do the following checks.

DISPLAY TEST:

1. Check terminal contact at the IPC.

2. Digital Cluster: Enter diagnostics and observe the suspect display. If all segments cycle and light smoothly, the problem is with the BCM/PCM or the associated sensor (refer to appropriate test for diagnostics). If the display does not cycle and light correctly, exchange the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).

3. Mechanical Cluster: Enter diagnostics and observe the suspect indicator. The gages do not have a self test function. If only one gage does not operate correctly, the problem is most likely with the BCM/PCM or the associated sensor (refer to the appropriate test for diagnostics). If more than one gage does not operate correctly, exchange the Instrument Panel Cluster.

^ Do the tests listed for your symptom in the following Symptom Table.
