Oil Pressure Low

Oil Pressure Low:

Oil Pressure Circuit:

DESCRIPTION:

The BCM provides voltage to the oil pressure circuit, and the oil pressure sensor provides the single path to ground. The BCM supplies and internally monitors the voltage level of the circuit at pin 3C3/3D9. The sensor acts like a variable resistor, when the oil pressure is high, resistance is high, and the BCM will detects high voltage. As the oil pressure decreases so will the voltage level sensed by the BCM at pin 3C3/3D9. The BCM will then calculate the oil pressure by the amount of voltage present, and when the calculated oil pressure drops below 6.0 psi, and all other failure conditions have been met, the BCM will send the "LOW OIL PRESSURE" message to the IPC. The BCM will also flash the oil can next to the oil pressure gauge on the IPC and activate the medium paced chime on the chime module.

TEST CONDITIONS:

Engine has been running for at least 5.0 seconds.

FAILURE CONDITIONS:

1. Oil pressure less than 6.0 psi.
2. Engine speed greater than 600 rpm.
3. Code B334 is set.

ACTION TAKEN:

1. Display the "LOW OIL PRESSURE" message on the IPC.
2. Flash the oil can next to the oil pressure gauge on the IPC.
3. Activate the fast paced chime on the chime module.
