1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove left and right sound insulators, Figs. 143 and 144.
3. Remove steering column opening filler and cluster trim plate.
4. Remove screws, and then disconnect ALDL connector.
5. Open instrument panel compartment door, remove compartment attaching screws and then compartment.
6. Remove right side trim plate by pulling rearward, Fig. 145.
7. Remove lower center trim plate.
8. Remove heater and A/C controls, Fig. 146.
9. Pulling control head rearward, disconnect both illumination bulbs, blower switch connector, rotary switch connector, vacuum harness and temperature cable.
10. Remove radio, disconnecting electrical and antenna connections.
11. Remove two screws from instrument panel to console bracket, then remove two nuts from instrument panel pad to cowl.
12. Loosen screw and unplug connector under instrument panel compartment.
13. Open engine compartment hood, then remove two nuts attaching bulkhead connector.
14. Using a 1/4 inch socket loosen bolt of bulkhead connector, and disconnect bulkhead connector, Fig. 147.
15. Remove two nuts attaching steering column harness to cowl, then remove three bolts from steering column support.
16. Unplug high beam dimmer switch, ignition switch, turn signal, brake light, TCC, cruise and clutch start connectors, Fig. 148.
17. Remove defroster grilles, then remove four instrument panel to top of cowl attaching screws located in defroster grille opening.
18. Remove screw attaching instrument panel pad to brace located near instrument panel compartment, Fig. 149.
19. Pull instrument panel pad rearward and disconnect antenna lead and body electrical lead located on right side of instrument panel.
20. Disconnect side window defroster hoses from heater and/or A/C module.
21. Reverse procedure to install.
