Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove refrigerant.
- Discharge the system and recover the refrigerant.
2. Remove nuts (76) and studs.
3. Remove accumulator hose connector at the evaporator outlet port.
- Seal the open end of the accumulator hose (77) with tape or an approved plastic cap to prevent dirt or moisture contamination.
- If you do not intend to proceed immediately to the following step, seal the open evaporator outlet port with tape or an approved plastic cap.
- Discard the 0-ring (75).
4. Remove liquid line connector at the evaporator inlet port.
- Seal the opened end of the liquid line (65) with tape or an approved plastic cap to prevent dirt or moisture contamination.
- Discard the 0-ring (74).
5. Remove air conditioning module lower evaporator case.
6. Remove evaporator mounting bracket screw and bracket.
7. Remove evaporator (7).
- Slide the evaporator (7) rearward, then down to remove it.
INSTALLATION
1. Install evaporator (7).
2. Install evaporator mounting bracket and screw.
3. Install air conditioning module lower evaporator case.
4. Install refrigerant oil.
- Add 90 ml (3 fluid ounces) of fresh 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to the system.
5. Install connectors, 0-rings (74 and 75), studs and nuts (76) at the evaporator inlet and outlet ports.
- Coat new 0-rings (74 and 75) with clean refrigerant oil and fit them into the port recesses.
Tighten
- Studs until seated.
- Nuts (76) to 16 Nm (12 lb. ft.).
6. Refrigerant
- Evacuate and charge the system.
- Test system performance.
