Status Lights
Status Light Displays:
DESCRIPTION:
While in the Service Mode, the indicators on the ECC control panel are used to indicate the status of certain operating modes. The different modes of operation are indicated by the status light being turned "ON" or turned "OFF." These status indicators are specific to the system level you are in (PCM or BCM). A brief summary of each status light is provided below:
1. The "CLOSED LOOP" status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the PCM is operating in "Closed Loop" fuel control. This light should come "ON" after the coolant and oxygen sensors have reached normal operating temperature.
2. The "TCC" status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the PCM is commanding the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) to engage. The light only indicates whether the TCC is commanded by the PCM. Actual operation depends on the integrity of the TCC system.
3. The "Rich/Lean or OXY" status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the oxygen sensor signal to the PCM indicates a "rich" exhaust condition. This light should switch between "rich" and "lean" (flash "ON" and "OFF") during warm steady throttle operation.
4. The EGR status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the PCM is commanding any one of the 3 EGR solenoids "ON." This light should be "OFF" if the PCM is commanding no EGR, as during engine idle.
5. The "4th GEAR" status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the PCM senses that the fourth gear pressure switch is open. This light should be "ON" when in fourth gear. This light should be "OFF" when in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, reverse, or P/N.
6. The "3rd GEAR" status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the PCM senses that the third gear pressure switch is open. The light should be "ON" while in 3rd or 4th gear operation. this light should be "OFF" when in 1st, 2nd, reverse or P/N.
7. The "2nd GEAR" status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the PCM senses that the second gear pressure switch is open. The light should be "ON" while in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear operation. This light should be "OFF" when in 1st, reverse and P/N gear positions.
8. The A/C COMPRESSOR or COMP status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the PCM allows A/C clutch engagement through the A/C relay. This light should be "ON" if the BCM's request for the PCM to turn the clutch "ON" is being honored. This light will be "OFF" if the PCM is commanding A/C clutch disengagement.
