A/C - Evaporator Leaks Into Passenger Compartment
NUMBER:92-T-152
CORP.REF.NO:

DATE:
December 1992
SECTION:
1A
SUBJECT:
A/C EVAPORATOR CASE DRAIN DRIPS INTO PASSENGER SIDE COMPARTMENT - INSTALL NEW RUBBER DRAIN TUBE
MODELS/YEARS:
1992 CUSTOM CRUISER
CONDITION:
Condensate water from the evaporator drain tube can leak into the passenger compartment (passenger side floor area).
CAUSE:
Under conditions of extreme humidity, air flow through the engine compartment can allow a small amount of condensate water to work past the seal of the evaporator drain tube. The water then slowly drips or seeps into the passenger side front compartment.
If there is a large volume of water, use normal diagnostic procedures to determine the cause of the leak.
CORRECTION:
Inspect the evaporator drain tube for blockage, clear as required. Install the 90 degree rubber drain tube P/N 22542866 over the existing tube, pointed downward, as illustrated. This will allow the water to drain down away from the evaporator drain opening. This part is currently available from GMSPO.
