Oil Level Is Low Message

Wiring Diagram:

TEST CONDITION(S)
1. Ignition on.
2. Vehicle equipped with oil level sensor (BCM checks EEPROM for this) - ALL VEHICLES HAVE THIS SENSOR.

FAILURE CONDITION(S)
1. No Code B334.
2. Coolant sensor reading is in a valid range.
3. Coolant temperature drop since the last ignition cycle greater than 15°C.
4. Oil level signal low.

ACTION TAKEN
1. Display the "OIL LEVEL IS LOW" message.

DESCRIPTION
The BCM supplies and internally monitors the voltage level of the circuit at pin 3C11. The oil level switch provides a single path to ground for the circuit when the switch is closed. With proper oil level, the switch is closed, and the BCM will detect low voltage. If the oil level is low, the switch opens (low oil level condition), and the BCM will detect high voltage.

NOTE:
This test is only run at key ON with a coolant temperature drop of greater than 15°C. This is to ensure that all oil has drained back into the oil pan before checking for proper oil level. Care should be taken to meet these conditions before trying to duplicate the complaint.

DIAGNOSIS
