Park Brake Is on Message
TEST CONDITION(S)
NONE
ACTION TAKEN
1. Display the PARK BRAKE IS ON message on the IPC.
2. Turn on the Brake indicator light on the IPC.
3. Activate the fast paced chime on the chime module.
DESCRIPTION
The BCM provides system voltage to the park brake circuit, and the park brake switch provides the single path to ground. The BCM supplies and internally monitors the voltage level of the circuit at pin 3C13. When the park brake switch is open the BCM will detect system voltage, but if the park brake switch provides a path to ground (the park brake is applied), the BCM will detect that the circuit has been grounded. Once the BCM has determined that all of the failure conditions have been met, it will send the "PARK BRAKE IS ON" message to the IPC. The BCM will also turn on the Brake indicator light on the IPC and activate the medium paced chime on the chime module.
DIAGNOSIS
Condition
Erroneous Message - Short to ground on CKT 233 or shorted switch.
NO Message - Open in CKT 233 or open in switch.
