Brake Fluid Is Low Message

TEST CONDITION(S)
1. Ignition is on.

FAILURE CONDITION(S)
1. Brake fluid level is low for at least 5 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN
1. Display the BRAKE FLUID IS LOW message c the IPC.
2. Turn on the Brake indicator light on the IPC.
3. Activate the fast paced chime on the chime module.

DESCRIPTION
The BCM provides system voltage to the brake fluid level circuit, and the brake fluid level switch provides the single path to ground. The BCM supplies and internally monitors the voltage level of the circuit at pin 3C12. When the brake fluid level circuit is open the BCM detect system voltage, but if the brake fluid level switch provides a path to ground (low brake fluid level in the reservoir), the BCM will detect low voltage. Once the BCM has determined that all of the failure conditions have been met, it will send the BRAKE FLUID IS LOW message to the IPC. The BCM will also turn on the Brake indicator on the IPC and will activate the fast paced chime on the chime module.

DIAGNOSIS
Condition
Erroneous Message - Short to ground on CKT 33 or shorted switch.
NO Message - Open in CKT 33 open in switch, or open in ground circuit.
