Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

TAILGATE AND LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE
Voltage is applied through the TURN/BU Fuse to the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch to the Release Switch. With the switch closed, current flows through the Release Solenoid to ground, releasing the Rear Compartment Lid lock.

TAILGATE RELEASE
With the Ignition Switch in "RUN," "BULB TEST," or "START" and the Gear Selector Lever in "PARK," voltage is applied to the Release Switch. When the switch is closed, voltage is applied to the Release Relay. The relay energizes and voltage is applied to the Release Solenoid, releasing the Tailgate.
