Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

To clear trouble codes from memory:
^ Ignition "OFF" for at least 10 seconds.
^ Disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 seconds.
OR
^ Use Tech 1 scan tool.

NOTICE: Clearing the PCM DTC memory will clear all PCM memories. Since some operations (particularly IAC valve idle control) are "learned," it may be necessary to partially depress the accelerator pedal when restarting the engine after PCM memory is cleared. It may also be necessary to release the accelerator pedal very slowly when first returning to idle, to prevent a stall. This will allow the PCM to "relearn" IAC valve position. Learned operations may be restored by normal driving.

Trouble codes should be cleared after any repairs have been performed. To prevent damage to the computer, the ignition switch must be in the "OFF" position when disconnecting or reconnecting power to the computer.

After the computer memory has been cleared, a change may be noted in vehicle performance. To restore normal vehicle performance, drive with engine at normal operating temperature, with the accelerator pedal going through idle, part throttle, and moderate acceleration modes until normal performance is restored.
