Component Tests and General Diagnostics
1. Check the ACC and ELEC fuses by visual inspection.2. If the seat belts remain taut with either front door open, check for a shorted door handle switch.
3. If one belt remains taut with either door handle switch operated, check CKT 528 and CKT 750 to the suspect belt solenoid for an open.
4. The key cylinder light should glow when either door handle switch is operated. If only one switch does not trigger the light, check the associated switch and wiring. The seat belt solenoids should click when the switch is operated.
5. If the seat belt solenoids in both doors do click, but the key cylinder light does not light, check CKT 528 and CKT 750 to the light for an open. If wires are OK, replace the key cylinder light.
^ Check for a broken or partially broken wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove Good in a continuity or voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
