Troubleshooting Hints - Interior Lights Dimming
Perform before beginning System Diagnosis1. Make sure Park Lights turn "ON" and "OFF" normally before proceeding with diagnostic, refer to "Exterior Lights," for Park Lamp diagnosis.
2. If none of the Instrument Panel Lights illuminate, check INST LPS Fuse.
3. If Instrument Panel Lights stay "ON" all the time, but Park Lights operate normally, repair short to B+ in CKT 8.
4. If one lamp does not operate, check the CKT 8 and CKT 150 wires to suspect lamp for opens, bent terminals, etc. If OK, replace bulb (refer schematic).
^ Check for a broken or partially broken wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems refer to Diagnostic Aids. Diagnostic Aids
