Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

Transmission Range Switch:

The inputs from the Transaxle Range Switch (PRNDL) / Transmission Mounted Neutral Safety Switch (TMNSS) indicate to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which gear the transaxle selector lever has selected. This information is used for Torque Converter Clutch (TCC), Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve operation.


CAUTION:
Vehicle should not be driven with transaxle range switch disconnected, as idle quality will be affected.
