Description

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) sends a pulsing voltage signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which the PCM converts to miles per hour. This sensor mainly controls the operation of the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC), shift solenoids, and cruise control systems. There are several different types of vehicle speed sensors.
