DTC P1619 Engine Oil Life Monitor Reset Switch Diagnostic Chart:
Engine Oil Life Monitor Reset Switch Wiring Schematic:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
To determine the engine oil life remaining, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors engine coolant temperature, the number of crankshaft revolutions, vehicle speed, engine speed, and calculated oil temperature. When the PCM determines that the engine oil is near the end of its useful life, it will command the cluster via serial data (CKT 800) to illuminate the "Change Oil Soon" indicator or "Change Oil Soon/Now" message after start-up. The PCM will command the "Change Oil Soon" indicator or "Change Oil Soon/Now" message "ON" after each start-up until the engine oil life monitor is reset by grounding CKT 1379 through the oil life monitor reset switch for over 5 seconds.
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P1619 WILL SET WHEN
CKT 1379 is grounded for over 60 seconds.
ACTION TAKEN (PCM WILL DEFAULT TO)
DTC P1619 does not illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks CKT 1379 for a short to ground.
2. Checks for a faulty PCM or an intermittent condition.
