Fuel Tank: Testing and Inspection

FUEL TANK LEAK TEST
Plug all outlets. Before removing a fuel tank for a suspected fuel leak, make sure that it is not one of the fuel hoses leaking onto the tank.

On Vehicle Test
If fuel is leaking from tank, replace tank.

Off Vehicle Test
Apply a small amount of air pressure to tank through vent tube, approximately 7-10 kPa (1-1.5 lbs) of pressure. Test tank for leaks with soap solution, or by submersion. If a leak is noted, replace tank.
