Shift Linkage: Adjustments
Console ShiftRemove or Disconnect
1. Air cleaner assembly.
2. Cable from transaxle lever and bracket.
3. Shift handle.
4. Console trim, storage box, courtesy lamp and console.
5. Cable retaining clips and cable at console.
6. Right and left sound insulators and shroud side panels.
7. Pull carpet back to expose cable. Cable assembly through hole in cowl.
Install or Connect
1. Properly route and position cable.
2. Carpet into position, right and left sound insulators and shroud side panels.
3. Cable at console and retaining clips.
4. Console, courtesy lamp, storage box and console trim.
5. Shift handle.
6. Cable at transaxle lever and bracket.
7. Air cleaner assembly.
Adjust
Cable. Refer to "Control Cable Adjustment" in this section.
Column Shift
Remove or Disconnect
1. Air cleaner assembly.
2. Cable from transaxle lever and bracket.
3. Cable from strut tower.
4. Left sound insulator.
5. Steering column trim panel.
6. Cable from shift control lever.
7. Cable from steering column bracket.
8. Cable assembly through hole in cowl.
Install or Connect
1. Properly route and position cable.
2. Cable to steering column bracket.
3. Cable to shift control lever.
4. Steering column trim panel.
5. Left sound insulator.
6. Cable to strut tower.
7. Cable to transaxle lever and bracket.
8. Air cleaner assembly.
Adjust
Cable. Refer to "Control Cable Adjustment" in this section.
CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT
Adjust
1. Apply park brake and block wheels.
2. Position steering column/floor console range selector lever into "Neutral" position.
3. Lift up range selector cable locking button.
4. Remove range selector cable end from transaxle range selector lever.
5. Position steering column/floor console range selector lever into "Low" position.
6. Position transaxle range selector lever into "Low" position. Obtain "Low" position by rotating transaxle range selector lever toward front of vehicle until it stops.
7. Snap range selector cable end onto transaxle range selector lever.
8. Press range selector cable locking button down. (Locked Position)
9. Position steering column/floor console range selector into "Park" position.
10. Remove wheel blocks and release park brake.
