BPMV Pump Motor Ground Circuit Open:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The BPMV pump motor ground is supplied through a ground stud on the pump motor to chassis ground.

DTC WILL SET WHEN
DTC 42 can be set when the pump relay is commanded "OFF." A malfunction exists if the pump motor ground circuit resistance is greater than 6900 Ohms.

ACTION TAKEN
A malfunction DTC is stored, ABS/TCS is disabled and the "ANTILOCK" and "TRACTION OFF" Indicator lamps are turned "ON."

DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks for an internal open in the BPMV.
2. Checks for an open in the BPMV ground cable CKT 1150.
3. Ensures that damage, corrosion, or brake intrusion is not causing DTC 42 to set.
4. Determines whether the pump motor or the EBCM/EBTCM is at fault.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Possible Causes:
^ Open chassis ground.
^ Open or high resistance in pump motor ground circuit.

It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
