DTC 43
Code 43: BPMV Pump Motor Stalled (Part 1 Of 2).:
Code 43: BPMV Pump Motor Stalled (Part 2 0f 2).:
BPMV Pump Motor Stalled:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the pump motor relay is grounded by the EBCM/EBTCM, it closes and provides B+ to operate the pump. Once the motor circuit is energized, a "Pump ON" signal is sensed by the EBCM/EBTCM to verify that the pump has power input.
DTC WILL SET WHEN
DTC 43 can be set when the pump motor relay has been commanded "OFF" after the pump motor has been "ON." A malfunction has occurred if the pump motor was "ON," and the EBCM/EBTCM sensed a stuck or slowly tuning pump motor.
ACTION TAKEN
A malfunction DTC is stored, ABS/TCS is disabled and the "ANTILOCK" and "TRACTION OFF" Indicator lamps are turned "ON."
DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks that ABS Motor Fuse feeding the EBCM/EBTCM Motor Relay circuit is good.
2. Measures for appropriate voltage (approximately B+) from the Motor Relay circuit, using the EBCM/EBTCM ground line to complete the circuit.
3. Checks EBCM/EBTCM connector terminals for good contact, i.e.: not spread open, backed out of connector, corroded, etc.
4. Checks EBCM/EBTCM connector for good retention to EBCM(EBTCM when installed.
5. Checks for an open in Pump Motor Ground CKT 150.
6. Checks for condition of connector.
7. Checks the integrity of the pump motor and pump motor circuitry.
8. Uses the Tech 1 to check for proper operation of the pump motor and associated circuitry.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Possible Causes:
^ Open in pump motor power input circuit.
^ Seized pump motor.
^ Pump motor turns too slowly (may be due to corroded motor or corrosion in pump motor circuit connection between EBCM/EBTCM and BPMV).
^ Open or high resistance in pump motor, or ground circuit.
It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
