DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
When DTC 55 is displayed on the Tech 1, it will be followed by two more numbers which should be noted along with any other DTCs that may be displayed. The additional two numbers displayed with DTC 55 are for aiding Technical Assistance to determine the cause of the internal malfunction.
An "intermittent" malfunction is most likely caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation, or a wire that is broken inside the insulation. Make sure the integrity of the connection between the EBCM/EBTCM and the BPMV is secure, tight, and free from corrosion.
The frequency of the malfunction can be checked by using the enhanced diagnostic function of the Tech 1.
Any circuitry, that is suspected of causing the intermittent complaint, should be thoroughly checked for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal to wiring connections or physical damage to the wiring harness.
