CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The PCM monitors various parameters and will not allow Traction Control operation if any parameter exceeds a predetermined value.

DTC WILL SET WHEN
A malfunction has been detected by the PCM. The PCM then causes TCS shutdown until the malfunction has been corrected.

ACTION TAKEN
This is a temporary operational malfunction. A malfunction DTC is stored, TCS is disabled and the "TRACTION OFF" indicator lamp is turned "ON." ABS remains functional. If TCS is no longer inhibited the indicator lamp will be turned "OFF" but the DTC will still be stored.

DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Determines if a DTC other than 78 was also set. Proceed to that DTC first, since it was probably the cause of this DTC.
2. Determines if the malfunction is internal to the EBTCM.
3. Determines if this intermittent malfunction reoccurs to indicate that it is internal to the EBTCM.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
This code is for information only. It indicates there are no problems in the ABS/TCS system, as an aid to the technician.

Any of the following PCM DTCs can cause ABS/TCS DTC 78 to set, (PO101, PO1O2, PO1O3, PO171, PO172, PO3OO, PO336, PO341, P12OO, or P1374).
