Circuit Operation - Interior Lights Dimming

With the Headlamp Switch in HEAD or PARK, voltage is applied to the Panel Dimmer Module. The Headlamp Switch Assembly applies a variable control voltage to the Panel Dimmer Module. The potentiometer in the Headlamp Switch Assembly cannot provide enough current to operate the panel lamps. The module amplifies the current and applies a variable voltage to the panel lamps. As the amount of current increases, the lamps become brighter. As the amount of current decreases, the lamps become dimmer. If a short-to-ground exists in the panel lamps, the Panel Dimmer Module will enter the short circuit protection mode. Once the short circuit is removed, the Interior Lamp Control module will return to normal mode after turning the headlamp switch off and then on again.
