B1061
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
With the ignition key in the OFF-UNLOCKED position, the AIR BAG warning lamp will illuminate steady. In the RUN position, the ignition switch applies battery voltage to the AIR BAG fuse and to the IGNITION 1 input terminal 10. The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) responds by commanding the instrument cluster, via serial data (CKT 800) to flash the AIR BAG warning lamp seven times. If serial data communication is lost between the SDM and the instrument cluster, the AIR BAG indicator will come on steady with a DTC B1061 set. If Ignition 1 voltage to the SDM is outside the normal operating range, the AIR BAG warning lamp will come ON steady with no DTCs set.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The SDM receives an AIR BAG warning lamp fault message five consecutive times, via serial data, from the instrument cluster and the SDM has not received a request from the instrument cluster to communicate, via serial data, for six seconds.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ The SDM sets a diagnostic trouble code.
^ The SDM attempts to turn ON the AIR BAG warning lamp.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ Current DTC.
The ignition switch is cycled.
^ History DTC.
- You issue a scan tool CLEAR CODES command.
- Once 250 malfunction free ignition cycles have occurred.
