Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement

Instrument Panel (Oldsmobile):

Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Front door inside carpet retainers.
3. Sound insulators.
4. Disable SIR system. Refer to "Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System."
5. Windshield side upper garnish moldings.
6. Instrument panel upper trim panel.
7. Instrument panel lower compartment.
8. Passenger side SIR inflator module. Refer to "Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System."
9. Steering Column Opening Filler.
10. Front floor console, if equipped.
11. Audio system.
12. Ventilation control.
13. Instrument panel cluster.
14. Headlamp switch.
15. Trip calculator, if equipped.
16. Fuse block.
17. Steering column.
18. Bolts/screws from carrier mounting.
19. Instrument panel wiring harness clips from instrument panel carrier.
20. Reposition instrument panel willing harness.
21. Instrument panel carrier from vehicle.

Install or Connect

NOTICE: Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Instrument panel carrier to vehicle.
2. Route instrument panel wiring harness.
3. Instrument panel wiring harness clips to instrument panel carrier.
4. Instrument panel lower compartment.
5. Bolts/screws to carrier mounting.

Tighten
^ Bolts/screws to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

6. Steering column.
7. Fuse block.
8. Trip calculator.
9. Headlamp Switch.
10. Instrument cluster.
11. Audio system.
12. Ventilation control.
13. Front floor console, if equipped.
14. Steering column opening filler.
15. Passenger side SIR inflator module.
16. Instrument panel upper trim panel.
17. Windshield side upper garnish moldings.
18. Enable the SIR system.
19. Sound insulator.
20. Front side door inside carpet retainer.
21. Negative battery cable.
