Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Replacement

Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate (Oldsmobile):

Remove or Disconnect
1. Front floor console, if equipped.
2. Instrument panel accessory trim plate.
3. Ventilation control.
4. Set parking brake.
5. Move shift lever from Park to L1, if column shift.
6. Tilt steering column to lowest position.
7. Tile lever.
8. Insert small flat-bladed tool into slot in instrument panel cluster trim plate directly below headlamp switch.
9. Push small flat-bladed tool handle down, releasing plastic tab, pull plate rearward.
10. Grasp instrument panel cluster trim plate at right end below the right center A/C outlet and carefully pull to release clip.
11. Screw from steering column wrap seal.
12. Grasp instrument panel cluster trim plate bottom edge on both sides of steering column and pull to release two additional steel clips.
13. Connector from cigarette lighter.
14. Insert small flat-bladed tool into slot at left upper comer and raise handle.
15. Pull rearward at the center of the top edge to disengage plastic clip on trim plate.
16. Instrument panel cluster trim plate from instrument panel.

Install or Connect

NOTICE: Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Instrument panel cluster trim plate center upper plastic clip to instrument panel.
2. Upper left corner into place.
3. Electrical connector to cigarette lighter.
4. Push clips on both sides of steering column into place.
5. Push metal clip at the bottom right comer of instrument panel cluster trim plate into place.
6. Screw to steering column wrap seal.

Tighten
^ Screws to 2 N.m (18 lb. ft.).

7. Push left comer of instrument panel cluster trim plate below headlamp switch into place.
8. Tilt lever.
9. Tilt steering column to original position.
10. Move shift lever to Park from L1, if column shift.
11. Ventilation control.
12. Instrument panel accessory trim plate.
13. Console, if equipped.
