Scan Tool Diagnostics

The scan tool, when plugged into the Data Link Connector (DLC), becomes part of the vehicle s electronic system. The scan tool can perform the following functions:

- Display VES data.
- Display and clear VES diagnostic trouble codes.
- Control VES components.
- Perform extensive VES diagnosis.
- Provide diagnostic testing for intermittent VES conditions.

Each test mode has specific diagnostic capabilities which depend upon various keystrokes. The keys on the scan tool select operating modes, perform functions within an operating mode, or enter DTC or model year designations.
