Troubleshooting Hints
^ The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will inhibit Cruise Control when there is a malfunction in any of the Cruise Control inhibit criteria. The PCM will inhibit Cruise Control when:^ The engine is OFF.
^ The Automatic Transaxle is in PARK or NEUTRAL
^ There is high engine RPM (fuel cut-off).
^ There is high vehicle speed (fuel cut-off).
^ The PCM sets certain Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or other failure records.
1. Check all cruise control inhibit criteria.
2. Check for DTCs.
3. Check that the Cruise Control Module Linkage is connected and moving freely.
4. Check Cruise Control Cable adjustment.
5. Check CRUISE and CRUISE SWITCH Fuse in RH I/P Bussed Electrical Center (RH I/P BEC).
6. If speedometer is inoperative, refer to Engine Controls. Computers and Control Systems
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check (refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may effect the integrity of other systems (refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
