Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Check the IPC/ Body Function Controller (BFC) ACC and IPC/HVAC BATT Fuses by visual inspection.
2. Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
3. If left or right turn signal indicator is inoperative. refer to Exterior Lights in Electrical Diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
4. If Instrument Panel illumination lamps are inoperative. refer to Interior Lights Dimming in Electrical Diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
5. Refer to Engine Controls for Service Engine Soon Indicator diagnosis. Computers and Control Systems
6. Refer to Supplemental Inflatable Restraint for Air Bag Indicator diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
7. Refer to Data Line Communications in Computer System Diagnosis for loss of Serial Data on SPI Bus between BFC and Instrument Cluster. Data Link Connector
8. Refer to Driver Warning System for the following indicators and/or gauges:
^ ABS Indicator
^ BRAKE Indicator
^ CHECK OIL Indicator
^ Coolant Temperature Gauge
^ Coolant Temperature Indicator
^ CRUISE Indicator
^ Door Ajar Indicator
^ Fuel Gauge
^ High Beam Indicator
^ Low Coolant Indicator
^ LOW WASH Indicator
^ Oil Pressure Indicator
^ PRNDL Display
^ SERVICE VEHICLE SOON Indicator
^ Seat Belt Indicator
^ THEFT SYSTEM Indicator
^ Volts Indicator
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check (refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may effect the integrity of other systems (refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
