Troubleshooting Hints - Starting System

1. Check the built in battery hydrometer eye in the vehicle's Battery before troubleshooting the Starter System.
^ Green eye - Battery is charged sufficiently for load testing.
^ Dark eye - Battery is discharged. Recharge Battery for load test.
^ Clear or yellow eye - Battery fluid is low. Replace Battery.
2. Check IGN SW-BATT 1 Fuse by visual inspection.
3. Check that the Starter Solenoid terminals B and S and Battery connections are clean and tight.
4. Verify that grounds G102 and G104 are clean and tight.
^ The following tests are designed for engines and batteries at normal operating temperatures and assume that there are no engine symptoms that could cause a no-start condition. Using these tests under other conditions could result in misdiagnosis.
