Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

With the valet switch in the UNLOCK position, voltage is applied from Fuse 2 in the RH I/P Power Distribution Center, through the trunk lid release relay, to the trunk lid release switch. The switch is grounded through the park/neutral position switch when the gear selector is in PARK position. When the trunk lid release switch is pressed, the relay energizes and actuates the trunk lid release solenoid. The solenoid releases the trunk lid.

The trunk lid release relay can also be actuated, regardless of the valet switch position, using the keyless entry transmitter. The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module provides a ground path to energize the relay when the trunk lid release button on the transmitter is pressed.
