Drive Belt: Description and Operation

The L67 engine employs two serpentine belts, one which drives the traditional engine mounted accessories, and the other is used to drive the supercharger. The belt is wider than conventional belts due to its "Poly-V" design, similar to six narrow V-belts joined at their sides. Encircling each accessory pulley are six grooves which mate with the contours of the belt face. The exception to this is the water pump pulley which is driven by the back side of the serpentine belt and, consequently, does not require grooves.
