General Description

The DRL system works in conjunction with the twilight sentinel to control the headlamps.

The DRL system used on the early 1997 Buick models utilize the low beam headlamps at a reduced intensity for illumination. The remaining 1997 Buicks along with Pontiac and Oldsmobile utilize the high beam headlamps at a reduced intensity for illumination.

Both DRL systems operate when the vehicle shift lever is moved out of "PARK" and at normal intensity during night conditions.
