Troubleshooting Hints
^ The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will inhibit Cruise Control when there is a malfunction in any of the Cruise Control inhibit criteria. The PCM will inhibit Cruise Control when:^ The engine is OFF.
^ The Automatic Transaxle is in PARK or NEUTRAL.
^ There is high engine RPM (fuel cut-off).
^ There is high vehicle speed (fuel cut-off).
^ The PCM sets certain Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or other failure records. Refer to Diagnostic System Check in Engine Controls. Computers and Control Systems
1. Check all cruise control inhibit criteria.
2. Check for DTCs. Refer to Engine Controls. Computers and Control Systems
3. Check that the Cruise Control Module Linkage is connected and moving freely.
4. Check Cruise Control Cable adjustment.
5. Check CRUISE and CRUISE SWITCH Fuse in RH IP Wiring Harness Junction Block.
6. If speedometer is inoperative, refer to Instrument Panel Cluster. Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check (Refer to Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
