Water Outlet Housing Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTICE: When adding coolant, it is important that you use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL coolant. If coolant other than DEX-COOL is added to the system, the engine coolant will require change sooner: at 50 000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
3. Disconnect the radiator hose and electrical connectors from housing.
4. Remove the coolant outlet housing bolts.
5. Remove the coolant housing.
6. Remove the gasket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the coolant outlet housing.
2. Install the gasket.
3. Install the coolant outlet housing bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Connect the radiator hose and the electrical connectors to the housing.
5. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
^ Tighten the bolt to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).

7. Inspect the system for leaks.
