Speedometer
The Speedometer is a road speed indicator. The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a permanent magnet generator located on the Transaxle. which sends an input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) whenever the Transaxle Differential Carrier turns. The PCM then buffers the VSS signal and transmits it to the Instrument Cluster, Cruise Control Module, and Radio (Uplevel) at 4000 pulses/mile via the 817 circuit. The Instrument Cluster utilizes the input to indicate vehicle speed on the Speedometer.
