Oil Pressure Lamp - Range On /Off

This data indicates what message is being sent from the Body Function Controller (BFC) to the Instrument Cluster to control the Oil Pressure indicator illumination. On, is displayed when the Body Function Controller (BFC) is commanding Oil Pressure indicator to he illuminated. Off, is displayed when the Body Function Controller (BFC) is commanding the Oil Pressure indicator not to be illuminated. The Oil Pressure Switch, located in on the Engine, closes with low oil pressure at about 13.8 kPa. (2 psi) and sends a discrete input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sends a Class 2 serial data message to the Body Function Controller (BFC) which in turn sends a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) serial data message to the Instrument Cluster to illuminate the Oil Pressure indicator. In the event of a Class 2 serial data loss, the Oil Pressure indicator will not illuminate unless, the Oil Pressure indicator was illuminated when the serial data loss occurred. In the event of an Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) serial data loss, the Oil Pressure indicator will not illuminate unless, the Oil Pressure indicator was illuminated prior to the serial data loss. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators. Testing and Inspection
